Projects relating to the Construction, Plumbing and Services Training Package (CPC)

Artibus, is the skills Service Organisation who supports the Construction Industry Reference Committee (IRC) to ensure qualifications and competency standards are aligned with industry needs.  Current and future projects include:

  • Silica Safety – this project’s focus is on developing occupational standards to meet particular risks associated with respirable crystalline silica (RCS). Validation closed 1 January 2022.  Further information can be found here.
  • Formwork – the previous Formwork/Falsework qualification was absorbed into the  Certificate III in Carpentry.  The training needs of this sector are being reviewed and a proposed stand alone qualification has been designed.  Feedback survey is now closed.  You can review the proposed qualification structure here
  • Hydrogen – renewable hydrogen is an emerging technology in Australia. A working group has been established and have identified key skill requirements relating to combustion and fuel cell and electrolysis.  A case for change has been presented to incorporate new hydrogen-based units of competency into appropriate CPC Plumbing and Gas qualifications.  Find out more about this project here.
  • Precast concrete construction – there has been an increase in the use of precast concrete in construction.  This project is reviewing whether new competency standards are required to be embedded within the national CPC Training Package.  Find out more here

NSW Trade Pathways Program

This new Construction Industries Pilot is providing experienced and unqualified trades workers the opportunity to gain a trade qualification,  either through fee-free gap training or via having their skills recognised through a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO).
